The second SEAWUN Convention on “Management Capacity Building and Performance Improvement for Southeast Asian Water Utilities” took place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, K.L, Malaysia on 14-16 May, 2007 with the support of Malaysian Water Association, Asian Development Bank, United States Agency for International Development, World Bank Institute, German Technical Cooperation and GHD Company. “Leadership Forum on Urban Water and Sanitation in Vietnam” was held and successfully completed from April 9 - 12 in Halong City, Quang Ninh Province at the Halong Pearl Hotel organized by SEAWUN and supported by World Bank Institute (WBI), the Vietnam Government, Ministry of Construction, Vietnam Water Supply and Sewerage Association (VWSA). The objective of this workshop was to bring together the decision makers of the Vietnamese sector community and provide a forum to learn from international experience and discuss the challenges that face sector development in Vietnam today.

Following the successful first phase of the Benchmarking Program with the survey of 47 Southeast Asian Water utilities in 2004, SEAWUN has embarked on Phase 2 of the program that will include the collection and analysis of 2005 performance data from about 80-90 member utilities. About 40 water utilities will be selected to be included in a data book representing the best utilities among the SEAWUN member countries.
